New Yarn
I am in possession of a hank of yarn from Lorna's Laces Limited Edition for June 2011. Colorway is Unlimited Possibilities. The colors are so vibrant and just calls out or should I say shout? What do I make out of this? It is far too beautiful for socks. I'm undecided. Here's a picture of the yarn in question.

Awake....
My blogging mind went on a long hibernation coinciding with the Wisconsin winter. Now that spring is here, I hope to keep this up more frequently. But I did manage to complete a few projects in the last few months. Here is one of my favourites. The Lacy-Leaves Tunic designed by Lorna Miser. It was published in the September issue of Creative Knitting.

Vest for Hubby
Here's a picture of my serenity sock. The first sock is about 60% done and hopefully the pair will get completed by Christmas and maybe will be a nice gift for someone!
Last week I had picked up the yarn for the vest I wanted to make for dear hubby and did some work on it last weekend. It is being made with Comfort from Berroco Yarns. 50% Super Fine Nylon and 50% Super Fine Acrylic with size 8 and 9 Needles. 210 yards per skein. It is a super simple pattern from Carol Sulcoski which was on knitty.com. Here's the link to the pattern :

This is the first time I'm posting a link and hope it works.

Almost Complete
Woohoo, my sweater is almost done. Finished the back, front and a sleeve. The second sleeve is about 1/4 done. And my first attempt at block the parts has worked out so far. I'm so excited about this project.
A simultaneous project I'm working on is a pair of socks. The yarn is called Serenity from Deborah Norville Colletion from Premier Yarns. It is 50% superwash merino wool, 25% bamboo and 25% nylon. I'm just doing a simple ribbed sock. Almost got to the part of turning the heel on the first sock.
My next project is going to be knitting a vest for my dear hubby. Just bought the material from Monterey Yarn last week where Julie was so helpful in finding just the right type that I needed. It's going to be a combination of black and white.

Work in Progress - III
A little over 25% of the project is done. The back is completed and I've started to work on the front. Here's a snapshot of the back. Not very good, I'm afraid. The picture I mean, not the sweater!

Below is the yarn I bought last weekend. It is Pure Merino, 100% Extra Fine Merino from Berroco, 50 gm, 92 yards. I think I'll make a pair of fingerless gloves and a cabled scarf with this.

Work in Progress - II
Last night @ the dance class, we did two continuous hours of swing and cha-cha and I hurt all over. Everything hurts, all those muscles that I didn't even know that I had. :-( :-( So much for being fit.
On the brighter side, the back of the sweater was completed last night. Even with those aching muscles crying for relief, I still wanted to complete the last two rows and bind off. Just so that I know that progress can be measured.
On Saturday, another day trip to Milwaukee. Visited a yarn shop in Glendale, called "Ruhama's Yarn and Needle". The visit was far too brief, I needed another couple of hours of fiber therapy, but in spite of having decided that I wouldn't buy anything until this project is complete, I gave in to temptation and bought six skeins of yarn. Consolation : it would make a wonderful scarf and may be a pair of fingerless gloves. :-) :-)

New Project
Here's a snippet of my next project. It's called Lacy Leaves tunic and a picture of the project is down below.

The edging is called fallen-leaf pattern. When I read through the pattern for the first time, it seemed so complicated and difficult. But when I actually cast on and began working on it, it's very easy. In the last two days, the edging for the back was done and plus another two inches of the main pattern was started. I can't wait to complete and wear it. :-) :-)
This is the picture of next project that I want to do and it is called Lacy -Leaves Tunic. This pattern appeared in the September 2010 issue of Creative Knitting. This was made with Mini Mochi Yarns from Crystal Palace Yarns.

Trip to NY
Last month just before the Labor Day Weekend, we went to visit my family in New Hampshire. We had a wonderful time with family and also visiting Mount Washington, a day trip to Boston, meeting cousins..... On the way back we decided to swing by New York City and do the touristy thing. It was a good visit, but of course, I felt like a hillbilly in the Big Apple.
As usual, I spent quite sometime knitting in the car and finished my afghan. Since I knew I would be able to complete the afghan, I had taken a baby hoodie pattern and yarn to begin a new project. But, me being me, messed up the beginning, something went wrong and I just couldn't knit in the round. Since I felt the beginning of the withdrawal symptoms, I decided to just do a basketweave blanket with the yarn I had and forget about the hoodie for the time being. Which was completed yesterday. Yaay...me....
Oh, I've got to post the pictures yet. Have to upload from camera... Maybe, tomorrow.

About a month ago, I came across a book called "Gorgeous Knitted Afghans" at the local libray. A ribbed pattern seemed perfect for the yarn I had bought at the Knitting Knook at Milwaukee. Here's a look at the work accomplished so far.
Here's the rest of the yarn which still has to be used. From the looks of it right now, I think it is really going to look gorgeous when completed. The yarn is Ecco 100% Merino Extrafine, Superwash. Needle size is 7.

New Set of Knitting Needles
I just indulged in buying a set of Harmony interchangeable needles from KnitPicks.com. They arrived a couple of days ago and I just can't wait to try them all. The colours are gorgeous.

On Memorial Day weekend, on a day trip to Milwaukee, I managed to make a little progress on a baby blanket I'm knitting with leftover yarn from my old projects. Another discovery was a yarn shop called Knitting Knook, off I-43 on the way to Milwaukee. The shop has a great selection of yarns, buttons and great books. As my luck would have it, they were having a 40% off sale. And I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to add to my yarn stash.
Come to think of it, I really don't have much of a yarn stash. Over the last four years, I have managed to make a bunch of different projects from all the yarn stash that Mary had given me. Some of the yarn I had bought, the synthetic mix ones from Walmart had been made into scarves which went to the Church. All I have left is the yarn left over from the last two or three projects and the new purchases I've made in the last three months. Hurray for accomplishment.
